another useless AI search engine but takes you to rabbitholes

So, I'm here to confess something. I built another AI search engine. I know, I know, the world needs another one like it needs more crypto scams. But hear me out (or just scroll, I get it).

A while back, I had a "brilliant" idea for a startup that was going to revolutionize… something. It involved AI, naturally, and a whole lot of buzzwords. Fast forward a year, countless hours, and a concerning amount of caffeine, and... well, let's just say the revolution was more of a polite suggestion that no one listened to. The startup imploded spectacularly. Think Wile E. Coyote running off a cliff.

Left with a broken heart (and a slightly singed bank account), I decided to channel my existential dread into something...else. Something that wouldn't require a pitch deck or user acquisition strategy. Something...open source.

That's how "RabbitHoles" was born (link below!). It's an AI-powered knowledge explorer that helps you dive deep into any topic and visualize your research journey as an interactive mind map. Think of it as the Wikipedia wormhole, but with a slightly less depressing UI.

Why build another search thing?

Honestly, I wanted to learn, build something cool, and maybe, just maybe, create something genuinely useful for others. Plus, the idea of helping people lose themselves in fascinating topics felt like a good way to atone for my startup sins.

Tech Stack:

  • Frontend: React, TypeScript, React Flow, Tailwind CSS
  • Backend: Node.js, Express, Tavily, Google Gemini

It's not perfect (understatement of the year), and it probably won't replace Google anytime soon. But it will let you explore the connections between Da Vinci's mysteries, cosmic consciousness, and quantum entanglement (yes, that's one of the example maps).

I'm putting it out there in the open source world in the hope that others might find it interesting, contribute, or at least get a chuckle out of my post-startup coding journey.

All feedback is welcome, even if it's just telling me I should stick to making coffee.

Thanks for reading!
